My Classroom Website

Dear Parents and Students:

I look forward to a great 2011-2012 school year.  I will be teaching 7th Grade Mathematics and Social Studies.  This is the website that you will go for missed notes and homework assignments.  I will also try to post resources for both parents and students to help with homework assignments.  Please feel free to call me during planning period for any comments, questions and/or concerns.  I have high expectations for all my students and will guide them along the way.  All I ask is for them to give me a 100%.  Survival will be our theme for this first quarter.  For math we will be covering decimals, fractions, integers, rational numbers, ratios, proportions, and percents.  For social studies we will be covering geography and Africa.  I will have "No Homework Tickets" in the classroom.  These will be used by the students when they fail to turn in a homework assignment.  They will write on the ticket the name of the assignment, date it was assigned, due date, a reason why it was not turned it and they will sign and date it.  After five tickets within 30 days I will notify the parents so we can come up with a plan to help the student turn in the assignments.  I will try to make calls throughout the year to inform parents of their child's performance in the classroom.  I want to call parents when a student is doing well, got 100% or did something really special in class.  Phone calls will not always mean something is wrong.  I invite all parents to come and sit during a class to see what the students are learning and how they perform in the classroom.  I know everyone is busy and connot spend an entire day off at school, but if you ever have 3o minutes free, please remember us at Mrs. Reese 's math and/or social studies class.  Together we can make a difference.

I am offering afterschool tutoring on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm to my students.  Parents must fill out a permission form.  The school does not provide transportation therefore on the permission form, a person (with phone number) must be designated to pickup the student after tutoring.  I really encourage everyone to participate.

Dear Parents:

I am asking for your help in providing coloring pencils, clay, playdough, coloring pencils, and any other arts and crafts supplies for our Social Studies class.  We do a lot of projects and models as we learn new material and I would really appreciate your help with supplies.  Thank you for your cooperation.
